We still
have over a moth till Christmas, but those of you who are thinking about baking
gingerbreads, have to prepare themselves early enough. It is essential to bake gingerbreads
at least 3 weeks earlier, if you want them to be soft on Christmas day. Of course
it all depends on the recipe and measurements
of the ingredients. Basic gingerbread’s dough should be composed of wheat flour,
rye flour, honey, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper. But obviously exist millions of recipes, that may
vary in different countries and regions.
The history
of gingerbreads date back to ancient times, when their first version appeared
in Romanian Imperium. In Middle Aggies they became more popular thanks to monasteries
and monks who were importing spices from the east in times of crusades. The
tradition of baking gingerbreads became more and more popular during the years,
especially around Christmas time. We not only bake them but the most important part
of process is decorating.
In Poland,
one of the cities that comes to our mind when we talk about gingerbreads, it’s definitely
Torun. For those of you who like both baking and gingerbreads: in Torun exists
the Museum of Gingerbread when you can participate in an interactive show and
create your own cookies.
Nowadays in
every shop we can buy different kinds of gingerbreads, with chocolate, marmalade,
ect., but homemade gingerbreads are the tastiest ones. But remember not to wait
till the last minute, cause no one wants to lose a tooth on hard like a rock
cookie. You have to give them some time to get soft and ready to be consume 😉
