Italian Cinema

I find watching movies one of the best way to learn a language. That's why since I've started to learn Italian, I've watched a great deal of Italian movies. Therefore, I've made a list of five of my favourite ones that I advise you to watch:
  1. Cinema Paradiso: directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, tells a story of Salvatore. The film presents the whole life of the protagonist: from the little boy that loves watching movies, till mature Salvatore, the famous director.

  1. La Pazza Gioia: Giovanna and Beatrice suffer from the mental disturbs. They meet in the centre for the mentally ill and they manage to escape. Together they part for a travel that's about to change their lives.

  1. Perfetti Sconosciutti: five friends meet for a diner and one of them comes with an idea to play a game. Each of them must put its phone on the table and respond aloud on any message they receive. From the nice diner, the evening becomes a real nightmare when all the secrets come to light.

  1. La vita è bellaa film directed and featured by Roberto Begnini, won three Oscars. It shows the story of an Italian with Jewish origins who together with his family is sent to the concentration camp. To protect his little son from the horror of the reality, he pretends to play a game with prizes that they will get for doing tasks.

  1. La mafia uccide solo d'estatePierfranceso Diliberto's movie is a sort of a dramatic comedy that in an ironic way presents the activity of Cosa Nostra in Palermo between 1970's and 1990'.

Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibition

It’s the last call for everyone who’s interested in visiting the Frida Kahlo exhibition in Poznań. It will be held until 21 st of January in Centrum Kultury ZAMEK in Poznań. The exhibition is there from September and has so far attracted a lot of visitors from all around the country. The organiser of the event says that that’s the first and only exhibition of Kahlo’s and Diego Rivera’s works with the “polish accent” (barely known polish thread concerning their artistic creation). You can purchase the tickets online or directly at the museum, but please consider that there’s a big likelihood of crowds, specially during the last weekend. For any further information, you can contact the official website.

In 2015: More people have died by taking selfies than by shark attacks

Although people tend to be afraid of shark attacks, the fear is not entirely justified and it most likely a result of movies fiction than being a witness of one.  In fact, in 2015, there have been twelve recorded selfie deaths in comparison to eight people dying because of shark attacks. Most of the selfie-related deaths have been due to falling. The next most common is when people are trying to take a selfie, and they're hit by a moving vehicle. In order to get a good shoot people risk more and more. Everyone wants to have an unique picture.  Some are crossing the line and in exchange for likes are taking the whole selfie thing a little too far. In Russia selfie deaths have become so popular that the government even released a guide detailing how not to die while taking a picture of yourself.

FoodHall Poznan

For all the food lovers, there’s a new project that combines food and culture. The old building, of now out of order, Poznan Glowny Station each weekend- starting from the 23-25 th of March- will hold food trucks’ exhibitors as well as DJs and lots of other artists. Station Hall will be divided in two zones: the art zone and the chill zone (which is still kept as a secret), moreover there’ll be also a bar and of course food trucks’ site. The entrée is free, everyone can come and take part in the project. Each weekend there’s a different attraction provided. You can consult the list of exhibitors and musicians on the official event’ website on Facebook. I find it a truly pleasant way to spend your time, not only you can taste the food from different food trucks- all in the same place- but also divert yourself in the art zone. That’s why, I would recommend this project to everyone that has no idea what to do during a weekend 😉
