My autumn reading list

I think we can all agree that autumn is the season of warm tea, blankets and books. At least for me it is. There’s nothing that I’d wait more that to cuddle with a blanket after a long, crisp fall day. I’d usually burn my scented candles, make myself a huge mug of tea and binge read crime stories or thrillers. Therefore I put up a list of my recommendation for you 😉
1.     Jakub Żulczyk, Wzgórze psów
Although it may not be the model example of a crime story, you can still sent the dreadful atmosphere. There’s an unsolved murder from the past, complicated family relationships, an author is search of inspiration and mysterious disappearance. The main character is a writer, who succeeded in the past by writing a bestseller about his hometown in which he exposed all its pathologies. Ever since he had troubles with drugs and lack of inspiration, his marriage is in a crisis and he’s so broke that he has to come back home and confront his father and all the unsolved issues from his past.

2.     Flynn Gillian, Sharp Objects
You might have heard this name recently due to success of  HBO’s adaptation of the book. But if you haven’t: it’s a story of a journalist that after many years comes back to her home town to write about mysterious disappearances of two young girls. She has to figure out what happened to them, while confronting her own demons from the past.

3.     B.A. Paris, Behind closed doors
Jack and Grace seem to be a perfect couple, basically inseparable. They have a beautiful house, they are young, wealthy and attractive. On the surface it doesn’t appear that something might be wrong with them. But the truth is far from this impression. What is the secret that they hide? You have to read the book to find out 😊

How did fitness tracker help resolve murder investigation?

Lately, I came across an article about how fitness tracker helped resolving the murder investigation. Out of curiosity, I’ve decided to read it cause it appeared to be quite unusual. So, not to prolong: thing was happening in California. 67-years old woman was found in her house with wounds around her head and neck. Last person who saw her that day was her father, 80-years old Anthony Aiello. While asked about their meeting, he testified that they ate together and that they parted on good terms. Little did he know, that   his daughter wore a fitness tracker on her wrist. Smartwatches like this can show us how many steps we make during the day, what’s our daily calories intake and among many others: they can measure our heartbeat. So, as you may have already guessed: the police with a help of the tracker could easily estimate the time of the death…and surprise, surprise: It happened to be exactly while she was supposed to be having a meal with her father. This time technology has ...

Must read

Hi, guys! How's life? What have you been up to? If you by any chance found out how to be a productive person, please make sure to let me know, cause I'm still having difficulties with adopting to the fact that the academic year has officially begun. I, personally, have spent most of my summer reading crime stories and I just must admit that there's one, in particular, I enjoyed. Have you ever heard the name A.J. Finn? No? OK, so you have to change it, cause I can assure you, it'd be worth it. The book is called The Woman in the window . Anna Fox, the main protagonist,  is a middle-aged woman, living on her own in the beautiful house in the suburbs. She spends most of her days drinking wine and watching people. Yes, she's literally spying on her neighbours. And there wouldn't be anything interesting about that, were it not for the discovery she's about to make. The key word in describing this book would be: the truth. While reading it, we have the...

Spoons of Victory

Do you remember the  African  Vuvuzelas from the 2010  World  Cup? Well, Russia is no worse than RPA, they also have their special instrument for this occasion. 'Spoons of Victory': their shape resembles the letter 'V' like 'Victory' that they are about to achieve. The instrument was invented by Rustam  Nugmanov  and is supposed to help tapping the rhythm of the songs without causing as much  rumour  as  Vuzuelas . The 'Spoons' are made  entirely out of the wood  and look more  like a kitchen  supplies  than something that  imitates  the sound.  Fans  can  bring them to the match and if they don't own one, it can be purchased at the venue.  Do  you  think  they'll repeat the success of  Vuzuelas ?
