European Christmas Markets

Last time I was writing about Christmas Markets in Poznan, so today I decided to continue that topic and present you some of the most impressive Christmas Markets in Europe.
1.     Viennese Christmas Market, Austria
Vienna holds not one but about 7 Christmas Markets, situated all around the city- it’s a great attraction for the visitors. Tired after whole day of sightseeing in the freezing cold winter weather, they can warm themselves with hot cocoa or mulled wine. Christmas Markets fit perfectly with beautiful Austrian architecture and they’re look even more spectacular in the evening when all the lights are lit. You can truly feel the holiday atmosphere!

2.     Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark
Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park situated in the centre part of Denmark’s capital city. It was opened in 1843 and for sure has it’s charm. During December it turns into huge Christmas Market where you can buy special delicacies, ornaments, etc. They managed to create the real Nordic Christmas Atmosphere thanks to the cute wooden houses, artificial snow on the trees and thousands meters of fairy lights.

3.     Frankfurt Christmas Market, Birmingham, UK
So called “largest authentic German Christmas Market outside of Germany or Austria”. About 30 stalls selling local beers, British sausages and many, many other things. Only here you can “meet” Chris Moos, the singing moose – one of the star attraction of the Market.

Of course the list is much longer, I decided to mention only some of European Christmas Markets, but we can forget about Strasbourg, Prague, Krakow or Berlin ….

Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibition

It’s the last call for everyone who’s interested in visiting the Frida Kahlo exhibition in Poznań. It will be held until 21 st of January in Centrum Kultury ZAMEK in Poznań. The exhibition is there from September and has so far attracted a lot of visitors from all around the country. The organiser of the event says that that’s the first and only exhibition of Kahlo’s and Diego Rivera’s works with the “polish accent” (barely known polish thread concerning their artistic creation). You can purchase the tickets online or directly at the museum, but please consider that there’s a big likelihood of crowds, specially during the last weekend. For any further information, you can contact the official website.

In 2015: More people have died by taking selfies than by shark attacks

Although people tend to be afraid of shark attacks, the fear is not entirely justified and it most likely a result of movies fiction than being a witness of one.  In fact, in 2015, there have been twelve recorded selfie deaths in comparison to eight people dying because of shark attacks. Most of the selfie-related deaths have been due to falling. The next most common is when people are trying to take a selfie, and they're hit by a moving vehicle. In order to get a good shoot people risk more and more. Everyone wants to have an unique picture.  Some are crossing the line and in exchange for likes are taking the whole selfie thing a little too far. In Russia selfie deaths have become so popular that the government even released a guide detailing how not to die while taking a picture of yourself.

Must read

Hi, guys! How's life? What have you been up to? If you by any chance found out how to be a productive person, please make sure to let me know, cause I'm still having difficulties with adopting to the fact that the academic year has officially begun. I, personally, have spent most of my summer reading crime stories and I just must admit that there's one, in particular, I enjoyed. Have you ever heard the name A.J. Finn? No? OK, so you have to change it, cause I can assure you, it'd be worth it. The book is called The Woman in the window . Anna Fox, the main protagonist,  is a middle-aged woman, living on her own in the beautiful house in the suburbs. She spends most of her days drinking wine and watching people. Yes, she's literally spying on her neighbours. And there wouldn't be anything interesting about that, were it not for the discovery she's about to make. The key word in describing this book would be: the truth. While reading it, we have the...
